The musical Wicked tells a story of two girls, Elphaba and Glinda,  who meet in the Land Of Oz long before Dorothy arrives from Kansas.  Elphaba was born with emerald green skin.  She is smart and fiery but because of her skin color, she is very misunderstood.  Glinda is beautiful, popular and full of ambition.  How the friendship of the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch forms and how they struggle through their opposing viewpoints and personalities, mutual love interests, and the Wizard's corrupt government makes for one of the most spellbinding musicals in years.
Wicked, the musical, is the untold story of the witches of Oz and it features music and lyrics by Academy Award Winner Stephen Schwartz and book by Winnie Holzman.  The story is based on the best-selling novel by Gregory Maguire, Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West. 
Directed by 2003 and 2004 Tony Award Winner Joe Manello and produced by Universal Pictures, Wicked made it's first debuted on Broadway on October 30, 2003.  The musical is also staged by another Tony Award Winner, Wayne Cliento.  The original cast includes Idina Menzel as Elphaba, Joel Grey as the Wizard and Kristin Chenoweth as Glinda. 
Wicked has broken box office records around the world and it holds weekly-gross takings records in London, Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York.  The musical won six Drama Desk Awards.  It was also nominated for 10 2004 Tony Awards and winning for Scenic Design, Costume Design and Best Actress.
