A Little About the Dolphins

After the Miami Dolphins were founded in 1966 by Joseph Robbie, they have had quite a career with many things to be proud of.  In 1971, the team was able to make it to Super Bowl VI but unfortunately lost to the Dallas Cowboys.  In 1972, however, the Dolphins did what no one else had or could; they had a perfect season, winning all 14 regular season games, 2 playoff games, and Super Bowl VII.  Even till now, no other team has matched up to the Dolphins' record.  The 14 wins in 1972 made the Dolphins the 4th team to have a perfect regular season.  Plus after they won Super Bowl VIII, the Dolphins became the first team to appear in the Super Bowl 3 seasons in a row and the 2nd to win the Super Bowl twice consecutively.  Since then, the Dolphins have appeared in Super Bowl XVII and Super Bowl XIX but unfortunately lost both.  A big part of the success of the Dolphins was head coach Don Shula who goes down in history as the most successful head coach with only 2 losing seasons in his 26 with the team, along with having 6 future Hall of Famers in the 1970's.  In the 1980's and 90's, the big star of the Dolphins was Dan Marino who led the Dolphins to 10 playoff appearances, 5 division titles, and the appearance in Super Bowl XIX.  Can the Dolphins carry all their past success to the new season?  Find out by getting your tickets to Land Shark Stadium and cheering them on!
