A Little About the Red Wings

The 2008-09 season went well for the Detroit Red Wings, winning the Central Division and going on to the Western Conference Finals where they were unfortunately knocked out by the eventual Stanley Cup Winners, the Penguins.  In an effort to go further into the playoffs, the team replaced Mikael Samuelsson, Tomas Kopecky, Marian Hossa, and Jiri Hudler with Jason Williams, Patrick Eaves, and Todd Bertuzzi.  Along with the new arrivals, younger players like Justin Abdelkader, Valtteri Flippula, Ville Leino, and Darren Helm need to step up their game if the team wants to do better in the next season.  With scorers like Henrick Zetterberg, Nicklas Lidstrom, Daniel Cleary, and Pavel Datsyuk, the team is already a strong contender for making the playoffs for the 19th season in a row so make sure you get your tickets to Joes Louis Arena now!

The 2005-06 season was probably one of the best in Red Wings History.  The teamed finished the regular season with 58 wins, 16 regulation-time losses, and 8 overtime losses, scoring a total of 124 points.  This record earned the team the Presidents' Trophy for the year's best record in the entire NHL.
