Carrie Underwood is a country singer whose fame came from the popular T.V. show American Idol.  During the fourth season of the show, she was able to bypass the judges and other contenders to become the winner which kick-started her career and a country/pop singer.  Since then, Underwood has gone on to become a multi-platinum selling artist, a multiple Grammy Award winner, a Grand Ole Opry inductee, and a three-time Academy of Country Music and Country Music Association Female Vocalist winner.

Though most of Underwood's popularity rests in her music, she is also a strong philanthropist with a love for animals. Since she was 13, Underwood has been a vegetarian and a lover of animals.  She has made donations and public service announcements to several different organizations, as well as gone to Iraq in 2006 during Christmas to try and give soldiers some holiday cheer.

Underwood, however, was not always the super sexy top-notch artist that she is today.  Her life began in Checotah, Chicago and has been singing since she was only three years old.  Before she became a huge star on American Idol, Underwood sang in local concerts or talent shows.  Along with her already amazing musical skill, Underwood graduated at the top of her high school class as well as graduating as magna cum laud from Northeastern State University.  Her talent and brains make her quite an exciting artist to see.
