BIG 12 CHAMPIONSHIP

The Big 12 Championship Game is a NCAA Championship football game pitting the Big 12 South Division Champion University against the North Division University.  This annual event start after the 1996 season in the Big 12 league of 12 schools (originally from southwest and big 8 division) and now the Big 12 has 16 schools.  This game always has national title implications as the winner of the game will at least attend a Bowl Championship Series game and most likely the BCS Championship game.  Since the 1996 season, the most football championships have been held at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri.

In the 2008 Big 12 Championship Game, the Big 12 South Champion was declared the home team since the game took place in the home state of a Big 12 North team.  Due to a 3-way tie in the South division, Oklahoma represented the South over both Texas and Texas Tech, with whom they tied.
