A Little About the Braves
After finishing 4th in the NL East of the 2008 season, the Braves decided to do some changes during the offseason to try and improve their weak points. Because of his poor performance in the season, pitcher and future Hall of Famer John Smoltz was traded to the Red Sox. In Smotlz's absence, the Braves recruited Derek Lowe, Javier Vazquez, and Kenshin Kawakami. With only a few other changes, the team may have a chance at the playoffs as long as they play hard and stay focused. The 2009 season seems to be looking bright for the Atlanta Braves so make sure you hurry down to Turner Field and get caught in the excitement.
How It All Started
In Boston, 1871, the Atlanta Braves were born. Right from the start, the Braves seem to overpower the other teams, winning 4 pennants between 1871 and 1875. When the National League was started in 1876, the Braves entered and continued to smash their competition. Unfortunately, their wins were only short lived. From 1900 to 1953, the Atlanta Braves were only able to win 2 more pennants. The team was then transferred to Milwaukee in1953.
